The UFC Vegas 72 main event features a top-10 bantamweight matchup between Song Yadong and Ricky Simon. The two men were initially scheduled to clash in the UFC Vegas 71: Pavlovich vs. Blaydes co-main event a week earlier.
Song Yadong enters back-to-back main events as the #8-ranked Bantamweight in the world. In his last bout, Song lost via TKO to Bantamweight contender Cory Sandhagen. Prior to that loss, Song was on a three-fight win streak, including a highlight-reel knockout of Marlon Moraes.
Ricky Simon enters his first UFC main event in the best form of his career, riding a 5-fight win streak. With wins over the likes of Ray Borg, Brian Kelleher and Jack Shore, Simon has surged into the top 10 at Bantamweight and will hope to continue his rise.
With Song and Simon ranked in the top 10 of one of the UFC’s most stacked divisions, a win will place either man in the position to secure a prominent matchup in their next bout, with the hopes of working towards eventual title contention.
The UFC Vegas 72 co-main event features a Middleweight matchup between Caio Borralho and Michal Oleksiejczuk, who look to be entering the prime of their careers and have an opportunity to surge into the top-15 at Middleweight with an impressive victory.
