The main event features an incredibly high-level Featherweight matchup between former UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway and streaking Englishman Arnold Allen.
Max Holloway, one of the best strikers in UFC history and long considered the Featherweight GOAT, enters another UFC main event fighting the best the division has to offer.
With the most wins and longest winning streak in UFC Featherweight division history, Holloway has fought nearly every great fighter of his generation, with a resume that stacks up with anyone in history.

Still only 31 years old, Holloway was riding a two-fight win streak, including dominant wins over Calvin Kattar and the current interim UFC Featherweight Champion Yair Rodriguez, before losing to Alexander Volkanovski in his last bout. With three losses to Volkanovski, he will likely only be able to earn another UFC title shot if Volkanovski is to lose his title.
Arnold Allen comes into his second straight main event undefeated in the UFC, riding an incredible 10-fight win streak that is good for the second-longest in UFC Featherweight history, tied with Volkanovski and only behind Holloway.
On one of the longest winning streaks in the UFC, a win over Max Holloway at UFC on ESPN 44 will likely secure Allen a UFC Featherweight Championship title shot against the winner of Alexander Volkanovski and Yair Rodriguez, who fight in July.
The co-main event features another striking matchup in the Featherweight division, with veteran Edson Barboza meeting the always-exciting Billy Quarantillo. Quarantillo gets the most significant opportunity of his career and a chance to surge into the Featherweight rankings with a win over Barboza.

Also, on the UFC on ESPN 44 main card are two Light Heavyweight matchups that should both be guaranteed fireworks. Dustin Jacoby meets the undefeated Azamat Murzakanov and veterans clash with Ion Cutelaba facing Tanner Boser.
In what is a stacked UFC on ESPN fight card, the main card is opened by Clay Guida, who faces Rafa Garcia, and Pedro Munhoz meets the streaking Chris Gutierrez to close out the main card.
The prelims also feature several high-level fights with the likes of Brandon Royval, Matheus Nicolau, Gillian Robertson, Lando Vannata, Gaston Bolanos, and Joselyne Edwards all in action.
