The event was initially scheduled to be headlined by the long-awaited ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Championship bout between Tawanchai and Superbon. However, that fight fell through again and has been rescheduled for ONE Championship’s final card of the year.

The ONE Fight Night 17 main event now features a contest for the inaugural ONE Heavyweight Muay Thai World Championship between ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing World Champion Roman Kyklia and WBC Heavyweight Muay Thai World Champion Alex Roberts, who makes his promotional debut against one of the best fighters on the entire ONE Championship roster.
Kryklia joined ONE Championship in 2019, winning the inaugural ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing World Championship in his promotional debut. After defending that title twice, Kryklia participated in the ONE Heavyweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix in 2022, which he won with stoppages of Guto Inocente and Iraj Azizpour. Kryklia hopes to become a two-sport World Champion in the ONE Fight Night 17 main event.
